Independent Financial Planning
Do you have a financial plan?
Have you ever taken 'time out', to write down what your goals are in life and then considered how and when you will achieve them?
It's a useful exercise and one which we ask our clients to undertake at an early stage in our advice process. It helps to focus on what your priorities are and shows how likely you are to achieve them by simply continuing to do what you do now.
Whatever your goals, the chances are you won't achieve all of them unless you plan how to get there. That plan needs to be reviewed regularly and modified to take account of the progress made and any changes in your circumstances.
Planning for success...
There are many methods of achieving long term financial goals - it may be investing for income or growth in a range of assets, repaying debt early to save on interest costs, or reorganising finances in a cost effective and tax efficient method.
The real skill is knowing which of these is most suitable for you, when to implement them (and how long for), how they will work together and what future events could impact on them.
This is where an experienced, well qualified and trusted financial planner can help.
Just as people's objectives differ, so will their plans - and so does the advice we provide. But whilst our advice is tailored to each individual, the process we follow is very consistent - developed over a number of years of working with clients at different life stages and proven to assist in the achievement of their goals.
Independent - what does it mean?
When it comes to financial advice, the word independent can have many meanings. In our opinion it means working in partnership with a client to achieve their financial goals - without any distraction, hidden agenda or conflict of interest.
To achieve this, we offer a flexible method of paying for our work. Some financial solutions will generate a commission payment, which can be used to offset our fees. This can sometimes prove to be a convenient and cost effective way of paying for our advice.
However, if the most suitable solution does not involve a product, we won't recommend one. We will simply advise you of the best strategies to achieve your goals. This may involve non-commission paying methods such as repaying debt or investing in cash accounts.
If required, our advice can incorporate more comprehensive cashflow modelling, which is available as part of our Holistic Financial Planning service.
